When designing the dimension for a call center do I keep the information in a denormalized form or break it into logical mini dimensions?: "Chapter 11 in The Data Warehouse Toolkit, Second Edition by Ralph Kimball et al, starting on page 235 describes a simplified view of what you are trying to do. This should get you started. One crucial element of success is to make sure that you have an in-depth understanding of what questions the management and analysts who will be the end-consumers of the information expect to be answered. No matter how elegant a technical solution is, if it does not provide the answers that the end-consumers expect and need, it will be judged a failure. Chapter 4 in another Kimball book, The Data Warehouse Life Cycle Toolkit, describes the process of interviewing the right people to find out what they need. An additional thing that I have found particularly useful is to ask the interviewee to summarize what has been covered by giving you 20 questions and, if the data warehouse provides the answers, the interviewee will consider the data warehouse a success. Without these questions summarized and prioritized, it is often difficult to justify the effort and money expended. Also, you will need a good project plan so that things don't get out of hand."

ISKEN - Data Cleansing and Analysis as a Prelude to Model Based Decision Support.: "We describe a loosely integrated set of teaching modules that allow students to explore decision support systems (DSS) topics ranging from data warehousing to model based decision support. The modules are used as part of a spreadsheet based modeling approach to teaching DSS. We describe one particular module in detail in which students are forced to deal with a “muddy dataset” as a prelude to analysis, modeling and decision support system development... We created a set of loosely integrated teaching modules that allows students to explore the inextricably linked concepts of data warehousing, OLAP, and decision modeling. In doing so, the students also become familiar with a host of advanced Excel tools and techniques that they will find extremely valuable in the business world. This multi-part module begins with muddy data, then OLAP, and concludes with queueing and optimization models. The application thread running through all three modules is that of analyzing call center data for purposes of assessing staffing capacity and customer service related questions. In this paper we will describe the muddy data module in some detail as it is somewhat unique, the OLAP module in less detail and just briefly describe the follow on modeling topics." & Excel Pivot Table Tutorial: An Example of an OLAP-Type Analysis & Dealing with Muddy Data Using Excel & 646-Home Page - Business Analysis and Modeling: "Excel out in the World" (PDF)

RDNIS - voip-info.org: "Redirected Dial Number Id Service associated with a redirected call. IE: Someone call forwards from home to a number. The RDNIS of the call would be the home number of the person doing the call forward (Redirecting). The called number would be the number they are forwarded to and the calling number would be the original calling number. This can be useful if you are running a voice mail system and want to have ONE incoming number for everyone to forward the calls to. Or, if they are using something line BUSY/No-Answer and forward their calls to this number. You can use the RDNIS to get the original called number and not require a special number for each user. Otherwise the phone will try to accommodate all those features. It's important to update to the latest firmware to get the best use. Using .13 works well with all features. If you're on speakerphone you should not crank it up to the loudest volume. Overall the phone beats any other phone in the same price category, and you're not bound to stupid licensing/software limitations as the others. It should also be said that Grandstream is working closely with Asterisk. That can NOT be said about other, and more expensive, phones. Last time I spoke to Polycom they didn't want to help me when I told them I was connecting the phone to Asterisk. They tend to support only (expensive) commercial PBX's." & "I like them. IMO, you can't beat them for the money. My first SIP phone order was a bunch of GXP-2000's, some Polycom 601's, and 2 Snom 320's (now discontinued I think). The Polycom has the best feel/quality, but it was hundreds more. The speakerphone on the GXP-2000 leaves a bit to be desired."
[Asterisk-Users] SPA-3000 + call waiting: "You REALLY don't want to have call waiting on a line going into any PBX. You are only asking for problems. My basic home setup is an SPA-3000 but the PSTN line only has call forward on busy, when busy, the number is forwarded to a DID at iax.cc" - TIP

IEC - Home: "IEC develops and markets several reliable and very inexpensive telephony software products. Because of the Intel's involvement (see below), we are able to offer you prices that make it practical to use SIP/VXML IVR. At this point our product portfolio includes SSP – a VXML IVR platform and a conferencing server and PNT – a software based bulk call generator to test IVR applications. Now you can afford to develop applications using VXML and put a conferencing capability into your applications... SSP and PNT were originally developed by us for Intel/Dialogic and then were licensed back to us. Since development of these products has largely been financed by Intel, their price is a fraction of the price of similar products from other vendors. These products have been deployed for several years and thousands of lines are in production now."
